Genetically Modified Carp

~ How Far Away Are GM Carp ? ~ I’m all for embrasing technologogy when it is for the betterment of mankind, such as certain GM crops to help feed our ever increasing population. But I, like many other’s, have some concerns about altering genetics when it comes to animals. This is an interesting article about the genetically engineered AquAdvantage salmon: http://tinyurl.com/3gqkcnt According to this article GM salmon are not far away from... [Read More...]

Underwater Carp Video ~ Do Waterfowl Spook Carp?

~ I’ve Often Wondered What The Relationship Is With Waterfowl & Carp? ~ Many times I’ve had a screaming run while I’ve had a flock of birds dive-bombing the baiting area at the same time. Lifting into a fish at this moment comes as a bit of a surprise, as you half expect a bird getting tangled with your line to be the cause of the protesting buzzer… invariably its not! Fishing where duck feeders visit can pay dividends,... [Read More...]

Gladiator Rs Baitboat

Since Niblet’s Carp Fishing Blog got going I’ve received some really amazing stuff, which regularly gets emailed to me from all over the world. A recent email from fellow carper Frans, from Holland, really made me look twice. Being a camo junkie as I am, you can understand why this awesome looking baitboat grabbed my attention. It’s camo of course! Below this picture are the specifications for the Gladiator Rs Baitboat, and a YouTube... [Read More...]

Last Practice Before World Carp Classic

~ A sneaky 48hr Session Away From The Homested ~ This one really was a squeeze, I’d just dropped the wife and grommet off at Ashford’s Eurostar Terminal at 9am Tuesday, for their Paris shopping spree.  Then gunned it back to Canterbury to pick up my kit to get down to the lake.  Amazingly by 1230pm I had both rods out, and was able at last to give my ears a rest and sit back in anticipation of some Kent lumps. All the goodies you need... [Read More...]

Darenth Social

~ Niblet Drops In On The Thinking Carp Forum J/S/OG Competion ~ Due to some unavoidable family commitments I wasn’t able to compete myself in thinkingCarp Juniors vs Seniors vs Old Gits competion over the weekend of the 14th – 15th August at Darenth’s Long Lake. However, I did make it up on the Sunday for a bit of a social with the guys, some of whom I’d met previously at their Hawkhurst Fisheries competition last month. Waiting,... [Read More...]

Two Tone Dead

~ Britains Biggest Carp Found Dead ~ Nothing official has been released yet from the Mid Kent Fisheries concerning the death, or actual cause of death of the British record carp, but the UK carp forums and even the BBC have already reported the very sad news. My blog is rapidly becoming a carp obituary, since the inception of Niblet’s Carp Fishing Blog in August 2009 I’ve paid tribute to several iconic fish, such as Benson and Heather.... [Read More...]

UK PB 4 DC

~ Disaster Caster Winkles Out A Day Ticket Twenty ~ Yesterday (12th August) we returned to our Canterbury base from a 48hr session at local Kent day ticket venue.  We’d arrived there midday on Tuesday (a new moon) full of anticipation for what lay ahead, even though neither of us had fished the lake before.  It drizzled quite heavily as we scuttled back and forth from the car with our mountain of gear, to a double swim that looked very promising.... [Read More...]

Bonkers In Honkers

….My Brief visit To Hong Kong Was Mad! By mad I mean I managed to cram in an incredible amount of sightseeing and general buzzing about during my five day stay there, enroute to the UK.  I was very fortunate to be able to crash at an old mates house, that was situated in the rather posh Peak area of Hong Kong.  Had it not been his hospitality I certainly would not have got to see and experience all that I did in this short space of time. ... [Read More...]

Announcing thinking Fish Safe ~ Making Fish Safer

…a new website dedicated to fish welfare The site can be found here: http://www.thinkingfishsafe.com/ This site aims to raise the profile of fish care and fish safety within the angling community.  It will gather together an ever expanding group who believe that fish care is the first duty of any angler. The website, logo, and other facilities will improve over time.  But in that time we are gathering names for our petition.  This group... [Read More...]

250lb Wels Catfish Caught In Italy

….Roberto Godi lodges claim for IGFA all-tackle world record Commercially Wels catfish have been caught more than double this size; though catching them on rod and line represents a far greater sporting achievement I think you’d agree? I put this article on because I found it quite intriguing… for a couple of points.  It goes without saying that Roberto’s catch is impressive; kudos to him for it, and I wish him well with his... [Read More...]
