43lb 9oz Of Australian Awesomeness
…Captured By Christopher Ward When I received an email last week with this fabulous news of an Aussie forty, a few things immediately sprung to mind. Firstly, that a rare and magnificent fish like this couldn’t have been caught by a more deserving carper than Chris. Secondly, it was kind of ironic that while Chris was battling with this leviathan, Ben and I were cacking it with pre-draw nerves at the World Carp Classic in France. Then... [Read More...]
Fishing Flu
…I can relate to this having felt pretty ill next to the rods more than once, self inflicted or otherwise! Or, equally as bad, cabin fever, when I’ve been deprived from getting outdoors with my kit for an extended period for whatever reason. Sure, it was exciting, chasing down hooked-up billfish, or seeing schools of sailfish smashing up... [Read More...]
Carpy Poetry
…Penned From The Bankside By PJ Garn ~ Fishing Fool* On a quiet bend in old South Creek, I sit patiently; waiting for Carp to bite… And remember; back to when I was young, For most days, after school… I was a “Fishing Fool” At a glance… not much has changed, Stringy bark hangs from ghost white limbs, As the Magpie’s still happily sing, And a Daddy Kingfisher; all brightly blue, Patrols the same banks, his Grandpa once... Shopping Trolleys Outnumber Fish!
Clean this up! I was out on the canoe on Thursday for a bit of a mooch about on our local river, when I inadvertently came across a veritable graveyard for shopping trolleys! Two things amazed me, firstly that they had all obviously been there a long long time, and no one had bothered to remove them. And secondly, that they’d been dumped right next to a healthy looking colony of freshwater mussels, which were clearly visible in the shallow... [Read More...]
