“Carping Downunder And Beyond”

Official Site For Australian Team Competing In WCC 2010

Carping history is to be made this September, when Ben Cook and I represent Australia for the first time ever in the 2010 World Carp Classic.  We’ll be taking on some of the worlds top carp anglers when we compete together on Lac De Madine in France.  Underdogs from Downunder we may be, but a president will be set when we proudly hold the Australian flag aloft upon this most prestigious of stages!

… With All Our Tackle Requirements For The World Carp Classic! With just a few days to go before the starting rocket launches into the Madine sky, our final preparations for this years World Carp Classic are being wrapped up by penning the last few ticks on our epic check list. The journey our little Aussie team has travelled in the months preceding this point has been nothing short of meteoric…... [Read more.....]

The Pointy End…

thumbnail image

~ We’re At It Now!!! ~ Following on from my last blog, Ben, Roland and I are most certainly at the ‘pointy end’.  With only a few days to go, it’s full steam ahead in the build up to our channel crossing this coming Friday.  I had thought I’d be a lot more organised than I am.  When in fact forgetting hooks and tying rigs is only the half of it, as there are quiet... [Read more.....]

Countdown!

~ How Many Days? ~ OMG!  It’s 7 isn’t it?  Not 9!!!  Don’t panic, don’t panic… er… sorry… I am!  I’ve just got back from Heathrow Airport, having dropped off some of our team support crew, ie: the wife and grommet, who are winging their way back to the land of Oz as I type this.  I’m running through my check list in my head on the drive... [Read more.....]

~ Two Weeks To Go Until WCC 2010 Begins ~ Eight months ago I compiled an exhaustive list of kit I thought we’d require for our Aussie assault on Madine. There were also a few additional ‘luxury’ items that came to mind that didn’t dare put on paper, thinking that I may be pushing the envelope a little too hard in doing so. Yesterday Ben and I went through this collaborative... [Read more.....]

Last Practice Before World Carp Classic

~ A sneaky 48hr Session Away From The Homested ~ This one really was a squeeze, I’d just dropped the wife and grommet off at Ashford’s Eurostar Terminal at 9am Tuesday, for their Paris shopping spree.  Then gunned it back to Canterbury to pick up my kit to get down to the lake.  Amazingly by 1230pm I had both rods out, and was able at last to give my ears a rest and sit back in anticipation... [Read more.....]

~ Niblet Drops In On The Thinking Carp Forum J/S/OG Competion ~ Due to some unavoidable family commitments I wasn’t able to compete myself in thinkingCarp Juniors vs Seniors vs Old Gits competion over the weekend of the 14th – 15th August at Darenth’s Long Lake. However, I did make it up on the Sunday for a bit of a social with the guys, some of whom I’d met previously at... [Read more.....]

Etang de Planchon

thumbnail image

~ Carp Fishing in France at Etang de Planchon ~ In France there are many carp fishing lakes to choose from, all offering excellent deals and huge carp, bigger than the UK where you are bound to break your “Personal Best”. The water quality is a lot better and as the temperature is a bit higher than the UK, especially the more south you go, lakes tend to have a longer, fruitful season. The... [Read more.....]

Two Tone Dead

thumbnail image

~ Britains Biggest Carp Found Dead ~ Nothing official has been released yet from the Mid Kent Fisheries concerning the death, or actual cause of death of the British record carp, but the UK carp forums and even the BBC have already reported the very sad news. My blog is rapidly becoming a carp obituary, since the inception of Niblet’s Carp Fishing Blog in August 2009 I’ve paid tribute... [Read more.....]

~ Disaster Caster Winkles Out A Day Ticket Twenty ~ Yesterday (12th August) we returned to our Canterbury base from a 48hr session at local Kent day ticket venue.  We’d arrived there midday on Tuesday (a new moon) full of anticipation for what lay ahead, even though neither of us had fished the lake before.  It drizzled quite heavily as we scuttled back and forth from the car with our mountain... [Read more.....]

Carp Fishing Reels & Online Auction Sites

thumbnail image

~ The Good, the bad, and the Ugly deals ~ By Luke Rudd ~ Carp-Fishing-Reels.Com Ebay and other online auction sites have seen massive growth in their online presence since their inception in the mid-1990s. These auction sites now sell products in almost all sectors and the fishing tackle industry is no exception. Initially this market consisted of mainly second hand or reconditioned items but now... [Read more.....]

Richard Walker Tribute

~ 29th of May 1918 to 2nd of August 1985 ~ It would be remiss of me not to pay tribute to this great man on the 25th anniversary of his death, today the 2nd of August.  Like many other notable figureheads of modern times it’s strange how you remember where you were when you first heard of their passing.  For instance, when Elvis died it was easy to remember where I was… I was fishing.... [Read more.....]

Aussie Teams First Practice Session

thumbnail image

…CC Moore AUS Dynamic Duo Meet Up It has taken months of planning to get to this stage, and I think we both drew a big sigh once we’d set up in our double swim and had settled behind the rods.  This was after all only our second meet up, and the first opportunity we’d had to wet a line together. From the get go we’d decided that if nothing else it’d be a great chance... [Read more.....]

… On Our First Session Together In Fifteen Years This unexpected result on an unknown water proves we haven’t lost our touch.  It was made all the more remarkable because of the very short space of time in which we had to prepare for the session, due to a last minute change to the booking.  As it often happens when you are poorly organised, lack a plan, and are the least confident... [Read more.....]

…And The Carp Gods Smile On Me Yet Again! If you’re thinking I’m going to make some grandiose announcement of some monster fish having been taken… you’d be wrong.  The title of this blog may appear a tad misleading, but I’m referring to probably the biggest capture of my life.  Not a carp, but a veritable treasure trove of carp kit! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie -... [Read more.....]
